Counting the Change

Today besides the heads of the states for their job purposes, how many times can we allow ourselves physically to have an around-the-globe trip in a lifetime? Luckily TriStrategist has just completed such a chasing-the-sun journey after covering 20,000 miles (between latitude 45-55ºN) in 60 days, meeting all walks of global people, taking all modern transportation means, and painstakingly dealing with 4 currencies ($, £, € , ¥).

After putting away those interesting global change, TriStrategist has just started to reflect on this journey. The world is still diverse, but becoming more and more similar with the aids of modern technologies. Changes are everywhere yet at an uneven pace. TriStrategist may share more about the observation and learning from the trip gradually.

Travel Notice

Dear Readers,

Due to a recently decided around-the-world travel schedule from the US to Europe and China, TriStrategy’s blogs may become sporadic in the coming 2-3 months. We look forward to taking a better look at the international markets and then hope to share fresher views with you from our learning and observations through the journey.

Thanks,

TriStrategist

New Year, New Opportunities

Thirty-eight published blog articles, nine delivered speeches, numerous learning engagements later, TriStrategist has concluded the year of 2014, a year of big changes, unsatisfied questioning, insatiable curiosity and rapid learning. In the year, we met hard obstacles, we had deep disappointments, but we also turned many unexpected into opportunities, especially the opportunities to be more open, curious and daring. This year, we have learned to value our talents and our time more.

Because our interest has always been broad, in global business, in leadership and management, and in many technologies, the subjects of our blogs have been wide. We published TriStrategy’s 3T Framework on Innovation in Service Business and studied disruptive innovations in greater depth. We studied several biographies of the well-known CEOs of the current society and their key leadership approaches. We also summarized our thoughts and suggestions on several present-day leadership and management issues per our observations. We strived to cover the new topics and concepts related to today’s fast-growing technologies in the most concise manner (Yes, we counted words for each blog article!), including cloud computing, Big Data, distributed computing, AI, nanotechnologies, and IoT. We shared our learning and our visions of the coming years. It was definitely an exciting year to learn and keep a pulse on the new trends in various technology landscapes. Many of these trends will continue manifesting themselves in the years to come.

In the new year of 2015, we’ll continue our learning, our questioning, our sharing of the knowledge, and our weekly blogs as a vehicle of thoughts and exchanges. We hope to connect with our readers more. We want to put more of our ideas, thoughts, plans and creativities into actions and realizations, to help others’ businesses and help ourselves grow. May the New Year of 2015 promise us and everyone else more opportunities.

A Little Christmas Cheer

We want to send to all of our friends and blog readers a little cheer for the holiday season. Wish everyone a very cheerful and productive new year ahead in 2014.

TriStrategy still has a long way to grow its business or firm up its niche offerings. In the past year, it had its ups and downs, but our network of business contacts and friends are continuing to grow, as well as the audiences to our voices on business. TriStrategy has gained more experience and exposures in different industries and various IT areas. Today businesses cannot be done without technologies. The problems facing the IT industry as a whole or IT department in each different company are all very similar in nature. The real differences are at the leadership, at the people and talent level. A company who has the culture of respecting talents, adopting longer term views, with better decision-making process has the edge to move faster and further ahead.

It is also a very encouraging sign to see that people are getting more realistic regarding industry fashions. Less buzz words, more practical considerations and implementations. For example, regarding the suitability of “agile/scrum methodology” in one’s IT department, more questions are being asked. Cloud computing also runs its own adoption course with many companies setting up private clouds first before evaluating and moving to public cloud with some specific position of values.

In industry wide, mergers and acquisitions are more frequently seen; some were done strategically for the purposes of quick modernization of one’s IT infrastructure and process to transform an old-fashioned business. Automation both in business processes and IT processes are more actively discussed and planned. Mobile access and design are included in almost all solution offerings. Efficiency and cost-saving are the primary goals for many IT departments, especially when companies are facing the slow-growing US economy and fast-growing global competitions.

TriStrategy will keep its open and global mindset to lead the flow of business innovations, for ourselves and for our respectful global business clients. We will continue offering smart, effective and creative solutions to businesses’ tough problems.
